Ho braddah
I sharpen knives as a hobby. Loving your videos
I love that handle. This is the first knife maker I ever saw use the entire anvil
You sir are a god at forging knive you would same all the contestents on blade master? Did i say that right?(it was supposed to a really good compliment but im a idiot lol
Neil and his son used to come into the pizza place I work at. It was super cool to feed a local celebrity
Does he mean 'traditionally' or 'artisanaly'? I dont know of many ancestral metallurgy traditions that involve the use of a pneumatic forging hammer
Dudes gonna kill himself with those small hammers......
They make this look so easy on forged in fire, it's anything but easy. It takes strength, and stamina like few other things.
😂 theres alot of knifes on the market that should be taken for granted
Most of your knives aren't made that way. Those hand forged and finished ones are reasonably 100-500$
Neil was one of my fav competitors from Forged in Fire! He is so humble and kind. He has a son that was sooo excited for him when he won the forging competition. Nice to see Gordon being a gentleman instead of acting like a lunatic, like he does in his cooking shows.
Need to see the full video of this
👍✌️⚒️
You're not a real master, unless you understand how the tools of trade are made. Interesting, and nice to see.
Who ever had the idea to give Gordon and other chefs an idea of how there tools are made is genius
Where?
Neil, teaching and respecting his student, blacksmithing isn't that far off from cooking, I've been a professional blacksmith for 11 years. It's truly not far from cooking, in it's basic principles. Heat, hammer, beat, move, change, draw out, condense, more heat, less heat, quench, temper, harden- harden in oil, water, air. A hundred different recipes regarding iron and steel and carbon and other metal additives and components, you can burn the carbon out burn the carbon in, this wrought iron with very low carbon content is different than that high carbon steel. This 4140 steel vs that 1099 steel vs. wrought iron with almost no carbon vs a whole slew of other steels. Iron isn't steel and steel isn't iron. Blacksmithing and forging is no different in principle to cooking regarding processes. I hope Gordon takes note from a real teacher like the one in this video.
I know a guy that used to make rail road tracks here in Australia and he actually used to say this we have great track here in Australia and the recipe is top secret
What a beautiful thing to see someone as incredible as Gordon Ramsay humbled by something as "simple" as a knife.❤❤❤❤ much respect and love to both of these amazing people.
I found you on instagram before I ever watched Forged In Fire. So I’ve always been biased with you as my favorite champ. I don’t have instagram anymore and today you crossed my RUclips feed. Glad to see you out here doing your thing again man. Much love.
Hearing this reminds me of my grandparents it's actually humbling
I make Damascus knives... A lotta. Hard work to shape one. Kuddos'. Gordon 👍🏆👑✔️
Brah, da ahi look crazy ono. No can get on the mainland. I’m jealous but keep living your best life, and thanks for posting.
That is one of the coolest blades I have ever seen. Hey man, if you need a kidney I have two……. Jus sayin
That makes me feel all tingly
Amazing edge retention
(Gotta ❤sublime..).
When you use a tool every single day for work as well as at home like in the case of a knife i think it would be an amazing opportunity to make one yourself. I love knives of all shapes n sizes, and for any and all applications. Getting a chance to make one from scratch is definitely on the bucket list :)
Take my money
Awesome stuff man, thanks!
Been a fan of your work for a while now and just discovered you had a channel this past weekend, it's my new favorite channel. I love the vibes I get from your videos.
Mahalo! Stay tuned! We've been planning....
👍👍👍👍
Is that Valyrian steel?
He got blisters from using a hammer for five minutes, that’s almost impressive
Well.. he is a Chef, his hands never see that kind of ware..
And it’s very hard on your hands. I have the thickest calluses oh my hands from it.
The secret is the right length of rebar for the tongs. Forge On!!!
That song tho!!!
